Research Interests
Ryan McDermott is director of the National Endowment for the Humanities-funded Genealogies of Modernity Project. He is writing a study of genealogical method in the humanities and a theology of incorruptibility. His first book, Tropologies: Ethics and Invention in England, c. 1350-1600, tracks changes and continuities in vernacular religious literature across the intellectual and cultural watershed of the English Reformation.
